At the time Earthlink was the new, hot Internet Service Provider, having pioneered “unlimited Internet for $19.99.” When Earthlink began hosting websites, they had the servers to host but their customers were asking for help developing their websites. One of their salespeople found out about Mary. She became one of four web developers Earthlink referred their web host customers to for web development. A new business was born.
It wasn’t just about code. Mary had worked in public relations and marketing, and had long been a gifted writer. She brought a keen eye for the customer’s viewpoint to the websites she built, and knew how to make them talk.
The passion that had led to the Tibetan Students website also grew. Mary Wald has done writing, editing, websites, video production, and public relations work for Nobel Peace Prize laureates and other human rights leaders. She has worked with video crews and other pros in the U.S., Italy, Germany, England, and India.
